Daido Steel also places strong emphasis on the effective utilization of water resources. At each of our plants, indirect cooling water for equipment exposed to high temperatures is cooled in permanently installed cooling towers and reused repeatedly. Furthermore, we are making every effort to avoid unnecessary water usage company-wide, including at the head office and regional sales offices.

Preservation of Water Resources and Quality

The following diagram shows the water circulation flow at the Chita Plant.
Each plant within the Chita Plant has set up a cooling water pool and water is reused.
Approximately 5% of total wastewater is treated appropriately in wastewater treatment facilities and then discharged into the sea.

Water Pollution Prevention

Daido Steel's Water Circulation Flow (Chita Plant)

Data indicating water pollution has been reduced to levels significantly below target values for over 10 years.
For fiscal year 2024, there were no violations of standards or regulations concerning wastewater quality.

Efficient use of Water Resources

A large volume of water is used as a coolant in specialty steel manufacturing processes, which involve the heating of materials to high temperatures. We have long worked to improve water circulation rates, maintaining a target of over 90% circulation rate. We continue to strive to reduce unnecessary wastewater discharge.

Targets for 2030
Maintaining a water circulation rate of over 90%
